Speech Therapy

Speech language therapy is commonly used for children who have been identified with a delay or deficit in speech and/or language. Provided by a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) or SLP assistants, speech therapy focuses on improving pronunciation, strengthening the muscles of the mouth for feeding or speaking, assisting with articulation, stuttering, or fluency delays, and assisting in other communication challenges and delays.

SIGNS A CHILD MIGHT NEED SPEECH THERAPY

  • Delayed Language Milestones: Not speaking in sentences by 3 years old

  • Difficulty with Articulation: trouble pronouncing words or sounds

  • Stuttering or Cluttering: individual experiences involuntary disruptions of speech                          flow or rapidly speaks in disorganized speech

  • Difficulty eating or swallowing: lacks necessary strength in facial muscles feed independently

  • Communicating Trouble with Social Interaction: Difficulty engaging with peers or understanding social cues.
